Positive action

Positive action

Positive action allows organisations to encourage persons of a particular sex, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief or racial group to apply for jobs or to access services if few or no people of that group have done so previously.

For example:
• This can include advertising (format and source), training, mentoring or other actions taken to eliminate barriers to equality.

Positive action does not allow employers to have quotas for particular groups, this is unlawful.

HOWEVER positive action is not unlawful for disabled people because only disabled people are protected by the DDA
